It is often overlookd how important a photo is when considering meeting someone online.

We all want someone to like/love us for us. The "us" being the person inside of us... 

Some of "us" are too attractive and people never even bother to see the true us inside.  Perhaps other of "us" are insecure about our looks and have not had much positive feedback about our looks.  Either way, both of these situations make us hesitate at uploading a photo of ourself.

If you have ever watched a TV makeover show then you would have seen both men and women radically transformed by a flattering haircut, the right clothes for their body shape, and even a simple change in posture.  While this is magical to watch it should aslo make it clear that we all have the capacity to change ourselves. 

Have a friend take a photo of you or simply take a snapshot of yourself in the mirror.  Either way you will then have a picture of yourself that will seperate you from those who are unwilling to post a photo of themselves.

WHY DOESN'T EVERYONE POST A PHOTO?

While there can be many reasons, one of the most serious reasons is that if a person is married, or in a relationship, they might want to "test the waters" and see if anyone is interested in them before the escape their current relationship.  This is the SINGLE most common reason.

You may simply be shy and not want to post a photo, but you will probably be placed in this catagory by most singles that have dated on the internet.

WHY SHOULD YOU POST A PHOTO?

The number one reason is to NOT be classified in the catagory above.  The second major reason is that looks matter.  Looks don't really matter in the ways that you might expect.  While fashion models get much attention, they don't always get the attention that you might think.  Many models that I have interviewed expressed frustration over the type of men that would approach them.  "It seems like only the players are brave enough to talk to you..."   In fact some models that I have known say that they decided to start asking guys out just so that they could meet a nice guy.  Models, both male and female, are the commercial look of our modern society.  The fact remains that true beauty really is within, and that there is no real cross cultural standard of beauty.  If you are 50lbs overweight, there is a culture that finds that attractive.   If you are balding, there are people that think that is sexy.  If you are short there are cultures that see that as rare and unique, and sexy!  If you are blonde there is a culture for you, but there are also cultures that see this as common and "no big deal".   Supply and demand plays a large role in what is valued.  The same is true in the World at large.  In a country that has a poplulation of one look, those that visit from afar and are different are sought after by some....

You don't have to be anything other than yourself.  There is someone out there for you, and you will find them quicker if you show them who you are and that you are willing to put your best foot forward and share a simple photo of yourself.

BE BRAVE! Take a photo, and upload it... you might be surprised at the response that you get.
