need some good computer help?

Postby ThomasH341 » Thu Jul 09, 2009 6:35 pm

Hi I have a Dell Vostro laptop with windows vista business. I purchased it a few days ago from my dads company that was getting rid of some of their stuff. I wanted to do a system rostore to put it back to factory settings but could not find a disk. After asking around I was told that I just had to use the vista business cd and reinstall vista. After attempting to install it, the process takes forever and i'm left with a black screen without a cursor and the computer is still on and after an attempt to restart it, it never makes it past the black loading screen with the green loading bar. Any help on how to solve the problem would be much appreciated.

wow you did yourself in buddy, next step, go to manufacturers website and get the recovery disks, $20 for shipping and handling and your off n running, unless you want to run windows 7 beta on it til 6/2010, you need a dvd burner and software to make an iso to boot it...good luck.. time running out on windows 7 though 8/20/2009

well the only sensible thing to do is to have it checked out. I know this answer sounds lame and all but when I was a kid i took apart computers all the time and so I've decided not to make matters worse b/c i couldn't put it back together. If you have all the materials like you said send it to a porfessional

See if you get any further if during the startup you keep pressing F8. If that works, maybe you'll be able to start the PC in safe mode.
